Kerry King made a controversial statement, implying that Dave Mustaine of Megadeth is not a good vocalist.
In a recent interview with Reigning TV , Kerry was asked about his preference for Metallica or Megadeth, and he immediately replied [transcription via Metal Injection ]: “I’ll be brutally honest. Metallica has a vocalist. Sorry, Dave.”
Asked if he prefers James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine, the Slayer said: “James Hetfield. Sorry, Dave, I know I played in your band, but I’ll stick with James” – Kerry King had a brief stint with Megadeth in 1984.

Metal Hammer Metallica was great back then. They were ahead of Slayer by at least 16 months to a year. They were doing original music and we were still doing covers. I think we opened a show for Metallica with Mustaine, I don't remember exactly, but I know Dave [ Lombardo ] I definitely saw them in a club and were impressed with Mustaine.”
He concluded: “To this day, he’s a fucking awesome guitarist. It was incredible, they weren’t big venues, you could see from anywhere, and I was very impressed to see Mustaine playing those insane solos and James playing those insane rhythm parts and screaming those lyrics.”
