Kerry King revealed to Wall Of Sound ( via Blabbermouth ) which is his favorite Black Sabbath . The challenge involved King saying which album he would choose if the Earth were about to explode, and all the inhabitants were boarding a large spaceship, so only one album could be taken with them.
The guitarist chose Sabotage , Sabbath's sixth studio album, released in 1975. Even though he's a fan of Ronnie James Dio , King says there's something about the album's vibe that resonates with him and that it "is cool".
“I would take… It’s easy and it’s hard because I’m a huge fan of [Ronnie James] Dio. But I would take Sabotage . There’s something about the vibe on that record. It’s cool. I mean, they all are, but there’s something about that one. Maybe 'Symptom Of The Universe'. I don’t know. It’s endless savagery.”
The guitarist had previously mentioned the album.
In 2017, King placed the album in his top 10 metal albums during an interview with Rolling Stone .
“It’s a very heavy album – it has a lot of good stuff on it. When I was choosing the albums, I selected the ones I like to listen to when I’m at the gym or driving, and Sabotage was my choice for Black Sabbath. It has 'Megalomania' and 'Symptom Of The Universe', songs that definitely have attitude, 'Hole In The Sky'. And the instrumental 'Supertzar'. I love that one – it grabs me for some reason.”
