Uriah Heep keyboardist Ken Hensley has died at the age of 75, his brother Trevor Hensley confirmed on social media.
"I am writing this with a heavy heart to inform you that my brother Ken Hensley passed away peacefully on Wednesday night. His beautiful wife Monica was by his side and comforted Ken in his final moments with us."
“We are all devastated by this tragic and incredibly unexpected loss and I ask that you give us some space and time to process all of this. Ken will be cremated in a private ceremony in Spain, so please don’t ask for funeral information. Ken is gone but he will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Stay safe out there,” Trevor concludes.
The artist was one of Uriah Heep's main songwriters until his departure in 1980, including the band's biggest hit, "Easy Livin'", from the 1972 album Demons and Wizards , a track written in just fifteen minutes. After the group, Hensley participated in projects with Blackfoot in the 80s on the albums Siogo and Vertical Smiles , with WASP in 1989 on the album The Headless Children , and Cinderella the following year on Heartbreak Station . Since the 2000s, the artist had been focusing on his solo career, releasing several albums, including his last work, Love & Other Mysteries , in 2012.
Rest in peace, Ken.
