The life story of drummer Keith Moon has been slated for a film adaptation for over a decade, but thankfully the idea for the biopic has moved forward and hasn't been abandoned by Roger Daltrey , frontman of The Who .
In an interview with NME, the musician revealed that he has finished the first draft of the feature film's script. “I’m waiting for a response from a director I spoke to before I started writing the script. I’m very happy with the script, [the film] will be made. As soon as he finishes the film he’s working on, this director will read it and I’ll have an answer. I hope we can do it as soon as possible,” he said.
According to the website, the project has Daltrey and Pete Townshend as executive producers and has suffered several delays in recent years. When development of the Keith Moon biopic began in 2005, actor Mike Myers was confirmed for the role of the drummer.
Regarding the delay in developing the script, Roger Daltrey described the project as "complicated." "A myriad of writers created failed scripts to finally get me to sit down and write the kind of story I had in my head about how to tell a story that would engage people, that would really expose Moon as a whole," he explained.
