Kataklysm's new album will be released on June 1st
Jean-François Dagenais, guitarist for the Canadian melodic death metal band Kataklysm, in an interview with That Drummer Guy, spoke about the band's new album, Meditations , which will be released on June 1st via Nuclear Blast.
“I’m happy with this album. We all worked together. We haven’t done this in a long time because we all live in different cities, so we tested ideas in our own home studios and in many Skype sessions. That’s how we made the last albums, but this one, we all actually got together in a room and worked together as a band. The magic happened that way.”
“It seems that on the previous albums, the last two albums we did, we were getting to a point where it was almost like an office job. 'Okay, let's release an album. Let's tour and do this. Okay, we have to write another album.' The cycle became repetitive. On this album, I didn't feel that way. It felt like everyone wanted to do it and wanted to bring the energy back. That's the one thing I noticed in the process of this album, I feel like we're back stronger than ever and we just want to be kids playing in a band and let go of the business side for a bit.”.
The cover art for Meditations was created by Ocvlta Designs by Surtsey, who also worked with the band on their previous album, Of Ghosts And Gods .
