After a full year of recording, Avenged Sevenfold is ready to finalize this part of the process for their new album .
According to M. Shadows in a recent interview with Metal Hammer , the band will finally be able to record with an orchestra, which had been prevented due to social distancing. "We'll finish the album in February and mix it in March," stated the vocalist.
In addition to the good news, M. Shadows also revealed an unusual inspiration for the new album, a follow-up to 2016's The Stage Kanye West ," he says. "The thing about Kanye is that he has references to a lot of soul music, which is great. I didn't grow up listening to that – my dad listened to Boston and Alice Cooper . I didn't know much about old-school black and soul."
Despite this, the vocalist reassured fans by stating that Avenged Sevenfold is not trying to change their sonic direction. "We're not trying to make a jazz album, but the note changes and progressions [of jazz] are very inspiring to us," he said.
Avenged Sevenfold isn't the first heavy metal band to be inspired by Kanye West. In August, Tom Morello said he was also influenced by a statement from the rapper that helped him record his guitar solos during the pandemic.
