Last Tuesday, the 21st, Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto , responsible for creating some of David Bowie , passed away at the age of 76 while battling leukemia. His death was only announced by his company today, the 27th.
The artist collaborated with Bowie during one of his most iconic phases, during the 1972 album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars , creating costumes for Ziggy Stardust , the singer's famous alter ego, whose clothes, makeup, and hair are copied and referenced to this day. Besides Bowie, Yamamoto was also close to names like Elton John and Stevie Wonder .
“‘Human beings have limitless energy’ was his motto,” his company said in a statement announcing his death. “He never let that go, pursuing one challenge after another, no matter how difficult things got.”
David Bowie's official page sadly announced his passing, sending thoughts and sympathies to his family and those close to him during this difficult time.
