Helloween guitarist and vocalist Kai Hansen posted a video talking about the new album that will be released this year. In the video, the guitarist says :
"Hello ladies and gentlemen, the Helloween album is mixed and ready. And I'm very happy with the result. Let's listen to some music, okay?"
After saying he's satisfied with the album, Hansen presses play and a song begins where his vocals can be heard over a clean guitar line. From there, the guitarist moves forward, where other excerpts from the new songs can be heard.
At the end of the video, the guitarist reaffirms: “Okay, I think we have a great album, and I’m very happy with the result. So, stay tuned!”
Andi Deris talks about Helloween's new album.
Last December, vocalist Andi Deris spoke in an interview with the Spanish channel MariscalRockTV about the musical direction of Helloween's new album:
“I loved two or three of Kai’s songs. They’re really crazy, and I really like them. Weiki ( Micheal Weikath ) has a great song too. My songs are certainly always good (laughs), just kidding, just kidding, just kidding. But I think we have a lot of good songs, definitely. Super cool riffs, lots of choruses with positive backing vocals. I think staying positive is something we’ll probably need in the coming times (laughs). Lots of positivity, I have to say. So, I’d say 80% of the album is super positive. Sometimes very fast and heavy, but positive. Good mood. And we also have a ballad. Finally, we have a ballad!”
In December 2024, Helloween released the live album Live At Budokan through Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM) , a recording of their show at the Nippon Budokan on September 16, 2023. This release marked the end of their 2022-2023 world tour. Helloween performed in over 30 countries, including Brazil on October 25th in São Paulo, October 27th in Rio de Janeiro, and October 29th in Porto Alegre in 2023.
The return of Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske on Helloween
Helloween, one of the most influential power metal bands, has experienced highs and lows throughout its history, including the departure of Kai Hansen in 1988. However, in 2016, the metal world was surprised by the news that Hansen, along with former vocalist Michael Kiske , would reunite with the band's current lineup for a series of historic shows called Pumpkins United .
The tour was an absolute success, taking the band to huge stages and rekindling the flame of classic Helloween. The audience responded enthusiastically, and it soon became clear that this would not be just a fleeting reunion.
Following the success of the tour, Helloween entered the studio to record new material. In 2021, the band released Helloween , their first studio album in over a decade to feature Hansen and Kiske in the lineup. The album, acclaimed by critics and fans alike, marked a creative rebirth for the band. With songs like “Skyfall” (a 12-minute epic written by Hansen) and “Fear of the Fallen,” the album proved that Helloween is still at the top of power metal.
