In an interview with TV War , Kai Hansen and Andi Deris explained how the name of Helloween 's new album , Giants & Monsters, .

German band 's 17th studio album is scheduled for release on August 29th.

The vocalist [via Blabbermouth ] explained:

“The first track says it all. It’s ‘Giants On The Run,’ and it talks about us as humanity. In fact, we are giants. We are gods inside. But then you could invent a conspiracy theory. Are we purposefully downplaying the divine side, that giant thing we all have inside us, so that it’s not allowed to express itself or manifest itself?”

Following Deris's speech, Kansen added that "it takes a whole effort" so that we can and must fight against the monsters. According to the guitarist, the album title allows for a wide interpretation of its meaning.

“You could say that the giants are your big ideas, your goals, your objectives. But then come the monsters, the demons you have to fight, and the daily struggle. Then you could go on to the Anunnaki, the return of the gods from outer space, the giants, and so on. I think there’s a lot of room for fantasy.”

Helloween's new album title was inspired by the Bible

Right after Kai's speech, Andi revealed an interesting detail about the process of choosing the name for Helloween . The musician looked for references within the Bible.

“I turned to the Bible. I said, ‘Okay, look, it’s even written in the Bible.’ There were giants walking the Earth, and who says the giants aren’t inside us? I mean, we are still the giants, and as Kai said, you have to constantly fight against the demons, the monsters in your life. And I thought that was a great metaphor.”
