During his appearance on Wikimetal Happy Hour , bassist Juninho Groovador spoke about his experience performing on stage at Rock In Rio in 2019 with the band Tenacious D , led by actor Jack Black ( School of Rock, King Kong ).

In a conversation with Nando Machado , Juninho recalled the excitement of performing at one of the world's biggest music festivals, and spoke about the participation of his idol Dave Grohl in making a dream come true.

“It was a groovy emotion, a truly cybernetic and high-spirited emotion. It still hasn't sunk in, I really didn't expect such a huge repercussion,” said Juninho. “We look very much alike, don't we? We have a very similar side to this love, this musical humor. I'm a guy who really likes to mix that side on stage, the irreverence, entertainment, high spirits and joy. And when I received his invitation it was surreal.”

“But it was Dave Grohl, the great drummer of Nirvana – who now leads the Foo Fighters – who posted it on social media and contacted Jack Black and said he really wanted this collaboration,” the bassist adds. “He was a militant, an activist even, in making this meeting between me and Jack Black happen. And thank God I did my part as a Brazilian and a Northeasterner to bring joy to Rock In Rio, that irreverence of Nirvana, of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” in a forró version.”

The meeting between Dave Grohl and Juninho Groovador also took place and was reported by Fantástico at the time, where the Foo Fighters frontman heaped praise on the bassist from Rio Grande do Norte.
