Julian Lennon , son of John Lennon , released a video singing the classic "Imagine," written by his father, for the first time in his life. This unique feat is for a good cause: the cover aims to support the #StandUpForUkraine fundraising campaign.
In the description of the video posted on YouTube , Julian writes that as "a human being and an artist," he felt "compelled to respond in the most meaningful way possible."
“Today, for the first time in my life, I publicly performed my father’s song, ‘Imagine.’ Why now? After all these years? I’ve always said that the only time I would consider singing ‘Imagine’ would be if it were the end of the world. But also because the lyrics reflect our collective desire for world peace. This song reflects the light at the end of the tunnel that we are all waiting for,” he wrote.
Julian is the son of John and Cynthia Lennon , the musician's wife before his relationship with Yoko Ono.
Other names that have shown support for the #StandUpForUkraine cause include the couple Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne , who made an appeal to draw the attention of the authorities through social media.
