Judas Priest is preparing to re-release the album Rocka Rolla. The album, which includes the hits "One for the Road," "Rocka Rolla," and "Run of the Mi," celebrated its 50th anniversary on September 6th. It is currently being remixed and prepared for re-release.
Ian Hill , bassist and one of the band's founders, spoke to the Talking Rock with Meltdown about the plans for this celebration. “It’s just been re-engineered by Tom Allom after all these years. The multi-tracks were in really good condition, and he changed some sounds, made it more modern, and obviously remixed it. And he did a great job.”
Furthermore, he added that he believes the album will be available soon: “It will be released soon, I believe. There are only a few weeks left, I'm sure of it. Yes, but it was redone. It will be re-released, which is great news. It finally got the production it always needed.”
A second chance for the debut album.
In 1974, the recording of Rocka Rolla didn't have many resources available. Furthermore, all the instruments were recorded simultaneously, as in a live show, unlike the usual process. As a result, the quality wasn't good. Therefore, a reissue of this album could bring some technical improvement to it.
Since this version isn't available on any streaming service, this re-release would offer fans hope that it might eventually become available on those services. Earlier this year, the band released their new album, Invincible Shield .
