It's official: Judas Priest finally be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year! The band will receive the Musical Excellence Award, which has only been received by one band before: the E Street Band .
The honor will be bestowed during the Hall of Fame event, which will also honor artists such as Eminem , Dolly Parton , Duran Duran , Lionel Richie , Pat Benatar , Eurythmics , and Carly Simon in the Performing Artists category.
According to the Hall of Fame, the Judas Priest members who will be inducted into the institution include the current lineup ( Rob Halford , Ian Hill , Glenn Tipton , and Scott Travis ) as well as former members KK Downing , Les Binks , and the late drummer Dave Holland .
“Wow, this is so exciting!” Rob Halford told Billboard shortly after receiving the news. “Finally! Finally, you know? And glory, hallelujah, another metal band in the Hall of Fame! This is the blessing we’ve all been waiting for.”
