Andy Sneap will replace Glenn Tipton
Glenn Tipton, guitarist for Judas Priest, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease 10 years ago, and due to the progression of the disease, he will no longer be able to tour with the band. Andy Sneap has been chosen to replace him.
Andy co-produced Judas Priest's new album, Firepower . He is 48 years old and was born in the United Kingdom. He founded the band Sabbat, which released 3 albums between 1988 and 1991, and after that, he set up his own studio, Backstage Recording Studio, and began producing and recording local bands. His knowledge as a sound engineer and producer caught the attention of bands such as Exodus, Napalm Death, and Machine Head.
In 2008, Sneap joined the band Hell, more than 20 years after the death of guitarist Dave Haliday, who taught Sneap to play guitar. “Unfortunately, he never got to see where he took me in life and how much he influenced me ,” said Sneap. “But when he died, he left me all the rights to all his songs, and all his equipment. He left me practically everything in his will. I don’t know why he trusted me, to be honest. Maybe he saw something in me .
Andy has produced albums by Accept ( Blood Of The Nations, Stalingrad and Blind Rage ), Testament ( Dark Roots Of The Earth ), Arch Enemy ( Anthems Of Rebellion, Dead Eyes See No Future ), Kreator ( Enemy Of God, Violent Revolutions and Live Kreation ), Nevermore ( Dead Heart In A Dead World and This Godless Endeavor ) among others.
As if producing the albums wasn't enough, Sneap also mixed important works such as: Arch Enemy (Wages Of Sin) , Cradle Of Filth (Thornography) , Megadeth (United Abominations) , Opeth (Deliverance) , Trivium (Ascendancy) , and many more.
Glenn Tipton joined Judas Priest in 1974, shortly before the release of Rocka Rolla . Read here about the musician's departure.
Firepower will be released on March 9th, and the tour starts on the 13th.
