Richard Goodall , school assistant and winner of America's Got Talent the hit song "Don't Stop Believin'" with Journey
Neal Schon , Deen Castronovo , Todd Jensen , and Jason Derlatka were present when Richard received the $1 million prize, 15 years after failing to audition for the show.
Schon commented on the competition: “We’ve been on tour for the last six months, but I’ve been following this phenomenon. He’s a fantastic singer, a great guy, and I’m proud to be here today for him.”
Later, on his social media, the artist posted: “Richard Goodall won! It was great to be a part of this! Congratulations!”
Judge Howie Mandel announced: “An assistant named Richard Goodall auditioned for AGT with 'Don't Stop Believin'. Now he's singing with Journey in the final. Dreams really do come true!”
In an interview with Deadline , Goodall said: “I've been a fan of the show for years, I'd tried out before, and it's not like I gave up – it's just that if it was meant to be, it was meant to be.” He also added: “I went into every stage of the competition without any expectations. I just went there and left everything on stage, whatever happens after the show, I'm sure it will be the icing on the cake.”
