In a recent interview with NME , Greta Van Fleet vocalist Josh Kiszka Gene Simmons ' famous quote about rock being dead.

In 2014, Simmons criticized record labels for no longer paying enough attention to rock musicians , claiming that as a result, the genre had been "murdered." Recently, the musician revisited his controversial statement and reinforced his opinion, saying: "Rock is dead. And that's because new bands haven't bothered to create glamour, excitement, and epic material."

In a video interview, which can be viewed in full at the end of this post, Josh Kiszka disagreed with the rock star. “Maybe the rock world that [Gene] remembers is dead. I think rock and roll is an elastic genre, it’s a very eclectic genre. It seems that from time to time a generation reinterprets what it is,” he commented.

The lead singer of Greta, who is promoting the new album The Battle At Garden's Gate , continued: “I think rock and roll can go dormant, but you can't kill something that transcends time. It's an attitude and a spirit and a celebration. I think people pass the torch and time moves on.”
