The record label has not confirmed.
The German newspaper Bild published today that Metallica will be released on October 14th. The publication does not reveal the source of the date and says that the band's record label, Universal, has not yet made an official statement.
The band's last update on the album's progress came in mid-June, when James Hetfield said the album was in the mixing phase and could be released later this year. At the end of May, Lars Ulrich even said the album would be finished in June.
For the new album, the band is working with producer Greg Fidelman.
