Vocalist talks about Heaven and Hell
In an interview with journalist Joel Gausten, vocalist Jorn Lande spoke about what it's like to be in a studio with Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler. Jorn Lande sang with Heaven & Hell after Dio's death in 2010.
“These guys are obviously unique. Tony doesn't just play, he takes care of his sound. He spends a lot of time developing his guitar sound. Maybe some exceptional fans know, but I think the general Rock and Metal audience has no idea how good his sound is, and how powerful it is when he plays. The combination of his talent with the sound he's created… I've never heard anything like it. I've never been in a rehearsal room with so much sound and power. It's truly breathtaking. The same goes for Geezer. The bass sound is so good. It's like an extension of the heart when they play. They know exactly how to do it. These guys really have something special, and it's very inspiring. And also, they don't compromise anything. I think most people today compromise a lot of what they do – with what the record label wants, what's smart in terms of the market, what's modern in Rock and Metal. And I think these 'old school' guys do things in a more natural way.”
