Jordan Rudess releases music video for new single "Shadow Of The Moon"

Jordan Rudess , keyboardist for Dream Theater , has released the music video for the track "Shadow Of The Moon," which will be featured on his latest release, Permission To Fly , scheduled for September 6th.

The music video, a collaboration between Rudess and Lightricks, an app development company, is the result of a competition where creators submitted their materials and creations for Rudess's track.

The winner of the competition was Manny Walker , and together with the Lightricks production team, he had the opportunity to co-direct the music video on a state-of-the-art set in Serbia.

Regarding the music video process, Rudess comments: “Creating the 'Shadow Of The Moon' video with Lightricks was an incredible experience. Working with such a talented team and the contest winner, and using Lightricks' cutting-edge new LTX studio software, brought my vision to life in ways I couldn't have imagined. This collaboration truly shows how powerful it is to combine music with innovative visual storytelling.”

Permission To Fly

Jordan Rudess' 21st album follows Piano & Orchestra, released in 2023, and will reunite musicians That Joe Payne on vocals, Darby Todd on drums, and Steve Dadaian on guitar, along with guest solos Bastian Martinez

In a recent interview, Jordan explains the core of the album and comments that all the compositions are by his daughter (via Blabbermouth ): “The essence of the album is deeply informed by the tumultuous events of 2023-2024, with peace and anti-violence motifs present in many of the songs.”

“All the lyrics on the album were written by my daughter, Ariana. Although I enjoy writing lyrics, my main focus tends to be the sound quality of the words. For this album, I wanted to delve deeper and offer something that resonated on a more profound and cerebral level. Ari did an exceptional job.”
