Jonathan Davis , vocalist of Korn , had a peculiar method for co-producing and writing the soundtrack for the film Queen of the Damned (2002): "transforming" himself into a vampire.
In the film, inspired by Anne Rice 's Vampire Chronicles , actor Stuart Townsend plays the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt , who awakens from a long sleep and becomes a major rock star.
When Davis was invited to participate in composing the soundtrack, the only way to approach the task was to put himself in the protagonist's shoes. “I had to transform myself into Lestat. I read the books and wrote lyrics about being a 400-year-old vampire, and it was a lot of fun,” he told Metal Hammer .
Although he didn't sing on the soundtrack due to contractual issues, the experience encouraged Davis's solo career. "It gave me the confidence to start doing more. My solo album is in that area, too. That's what I write: dark and vampiric songs," he summarized.
