Jonathan Davis says Sepultura has a free pass.
In an interview with Metal Hammer, Jonathan Davis spoke about the bands that influenced and were influenced by Korn, giving a statement about the sound of Sepultura's album "Roots":
"Slipknot was influenced by what we did, but they took it and created their own sound, which is incredible."
One thing that I think was a compliment but also got a lot of flak was Sepultura's album "Roots." That was a blatant copy of Korn, and I even confronted the producer Ross Robinson about it because he simply took our sound and gave it to Sepultura.
My young brain couldn't handle it. But they were one of our biggest influences, so they get a free pass. And the album is a classic, so it's all good.
