In an interview published by Entertainment Tonight last Wednesday, the 10th, Jon Bon Jovi spoke about the surgery he had on his vocal cords in 2022, revealing that he is "working hard" on vocal therapy, but is not sure if he will return to singing professionally.
“Nothing else matters until I work to improve. At this point, everything depends on God. I've already done everything I could do,” he said.
The surgery, called "medialization," aims to improve the condition of your vocal cords.
“One of my vocal cords was atrophied, but they were supposed to be parallel. Let’s pretend one is as thick as my thumb and the other is as thick as a pinky finger. So the stronger one was pushing the weaker one aside. And I wasn’t singing well, my art was being taken away from me,” Jon Bon Jovi recounted during a panel about the documentary series Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story in February.
The singer also spoke about having performed at a benefit concert in February.
“I’m not going to compromise who we are as a live band, because I like to think we’re a really good band,” he continued. “I sang on the new album. I did MusiCares [a charity event] and I killed it… When I woke up after that night, it was the first time in a decade that the only voice in my head was my own—the fear wasn’t there, the doubt wasn’t there—and [my wife] Dorothea texted my kids and said, ‘He’s back!’”
