Johnny Rotten Sex Pistols biopic . The series is directed by Danny Boyle and inspired by guitarist Steve Jones' 2018 , Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol

In an interview with The Sunday Times , Rotten said (via NME ): “I think it’s the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever had to put up with. I mean, they went so far as to hire an actor to play me, but what is the actor working on? Certainly not my character. This can’t go anywhere else [except in court].”

“I regret that you think you can do this,” Rotten said, seemingly addressing Boyle, “like, step all over me – that’s not going to happen. Not without a huge, huge fight. I’m Johnny, you know, and when you interfere in my business, you’re going to get the bitter end of my business as a result. It’s a shame.”

Pistols has had its first images revealed , showing Anson Boon as Rotten, Toby Wallace as Steve Jones, Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious , Jacob Slater as Paul Cook , and Christian Lees as Glen Matlock . The series is an FX production and is scheduled to premiere on the channel and the Hulu streaming service in 2022.
