Brazilian singer-songwriter Johnny Monster releases his new album , Futuro Perplexo , . The project is Johnny's most diverse to date: across the album's 11 new tracks, the singer explores different rock styles and addresses various current themes, always with a pop sensibility that demonstrates Johnny's experience and mastery as a songwriter.
The singer had already shared singles previewing the work, which highlighted the project's sonic variety, with the 80s pop rock of "Pra Lembrar de Você," the acoustic rock of "Onde Deveria Estar," and the punk of "Saída de Emergência," which are now available alongside the other tracks from the project. Notably, the track "Yin Yang" is a pop-rock song with a psychedelic aesthetic reminiscent of the Beatles and Britpop.
Despite celebrating the past by traversing diverse soundscapes throughout rock history, Johnny also cites modern influences such as Ezra Furman, Sharon Van Etten , and Future Island . Furthermore, he maintains a relevant perspective by addressing philosophical, realistic, and urgent issues in his lyrics: "If the Future were a character, it would certainly be perplexed by humanity," the singer states.
Produced by Michel Kuaker and recorded at Wah Wah Studio, the collaboration was essential in the creation of the album: it also features special appearances by artists who are partners of the singer, such as Clemente Nascimento , from the band Inocentes , the actor Eriberto Leão , and Bianca Jhordão , from the band Leela . The work was visually complemented with covers made by Caru Leão and Rodrigo Akiti , as well as music videos by Ricardo Yamas and Edu Menin.
Futuro Perplexo is a release from the ForMusic Records .
