Singer and songwriter Johnny Monster released his new single "Saída de Emergência" today, the 16th, featuring actor Eriberto Leão . The song was composed by Eriberto himself, around 1997, when he was the vocalist and bandmate of Johnny in the band Hip Monsters , alongside Gastão Moreira .
At the time, the band had released their first album, the iconic and now cult classic Música Popular Do Espaço . They already had some ideas for a follow-up project, which never came to fruition as the group eventually disbanded. Now, more than 20 years later, Johnny had the idea to revive and record one of them for his new album. Thus emerged “Saída de Emergência,” composed by Eriberto and finally finished and released by Johnny, who also added a second chorus and a new instrumental section.
In addition to composing the track, Eriberto also participates by singing, having recorded his vocals remotely from Rio de Janeiro, where he resides. The track also features a special appearance by another of Johnny's collaborators: Bianca Jhordão , vocalist and guitarist of Leela , playing the theremin.
According to Eriberto, in the lyrics the character cries out for the arrival of a "flying saucer" to rescue him from this unjust and cruel world: "'Saída De Emergência' is a song that was born in our souls, translating the dread of living in this highly competitive society, where the utopia of another type of civilization, more loving and inclusive (which we call extraterrestrials), becomes necessary in our art." But the song also contains another important message: there are no guilty or innocent parties, we are all in the same boat.
“Saída de Emergência” will be featured on Johnny Monster’s new album, Futuro Perplexo , produced by Michel Kuaker at Wah Wah Studio. The project will be released in January via ForMusic Records .
