The band will play in four Brazilian cities

Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci commented on the band's new show format, which on the current tour features their latest album "The Astonishing" in its entirety.

Progressive Metal Anthems

Petrucci revealed that the new album was planned from the beginning with the show in mind:

“We decided to do a Rock Opera, but more than that, to do a live Dream Theater show with incredible visual effects and as a unique show (…) The biggest challenge was that there is so much material. We knew that to have a whole show we would have to have a little over two hours of music, so basically we were writing songs for the time of two albums.”

Petrucci also commented on the show's auditorium format, with a seated audience:

“It makes more sense because of the show's length and because it's so visual. People can sit and enjoy it just like they would watching a movie, a musical, or an opera, but it's rock. And there are parts of the show where people do get up, so everything fits together very well.” The guitarist said that the song Our New World is one of those where the audience gets up from their seats.

Petrucci also revealed that the protagonist of "The Astonishing" is named Gabriel in homage to the singer Peter Gabriel.
