Johanna Sadonis , former The Oath and current vocalist for the band Lucifer , defended Yoko Ono against the theory that she was somehow responsible for the Beatles , a view now understood as part of a sexist narrative, as shown in the documentary The Beatles: Get Back .
During a conversation on the show The Wikimetal Happy Hour , the singer commented on her only trip to Brazil to accompany her husband Nicke Andersson on tour with The Hellacopters . "I only went to see Yoko Ono, I stayed by the stage with a drink in my hand," she said.
When Nando Machado jokingly asked if she was "helping to break up the band," Johanna was firm. "That was mean! I don't think she broke up the Beatles, she saved [ John Lennon ] from many things. In fact, he was more of a jerk than many people think," the artist pointed out. "It's very common for women to be demonized, you know? That's what the cover of the album Lucifer IV is about."
Johanna and Andersson work together in the band Lucifer, which released its fourth album on October 29th via Century Media . Watch the clip below or watch the full interview here .
