The box set will be released later this year

The song “Imagine” was written by John Lennon at a large white piano alongside his then-wife, Yoko Ono . In the studio, the former Beatle's track gained bass lines, drums, and a chord arrangement co-produced by Phil Spector.

Now you can hear the cleaner version of the song with only Lennon's work. The demo is part of Imagine: The Ultimate Collection , a commemorative box set of the iconic Imagine (1971), scheduled for release on October 5th.

The box set will include other demos of John Lennon's compositions, as well as unreleased songs and studio recordings. The release will feature the material on 4 CDs and 2 Blu-rays, also including The Evolution Documentary, which details the evolution of all the tracks on the LP.

“Imagine was created with immeasurable care and love for the children of this world,” wrote Yoko Ono in the comments of Imagine: The Ultimate Collection . In addition to the box set, the artist will release on October 9th – the date that would have marked Lennon's 78th birthday – the book Imagine John Yoko , co-written by her and the musician.
