On October 9, 2020, John Lennon would have turned 80. And to celebrate the memory of one of music's greatest artists, the collection GIMME SOME TRUTH. THE ULTIMATE MIXES will be released in various formats, including digital, via Capitol/UME .
The collection will feature essential tracks from the singer, songwriter, and musician, with executive production by Yoko Ono Lennon and production by Sean Ono Lennon . The 36 songs included were hand-picked by Yoko and Sean to be remixed from scratch, providing a new experience when encountering Lennon's classics arranged in chronological order.
“John was a brilliant man with a great sense of humor and understanding. He believed in being true and that the power of the people would change the world. And it will. We all have a responsibility to envision a better world for ourselves and our children. The truth is what we create. It is in our hands,” writes Yoko in the preface to the 124-page book included in the Deluxe edition. The work tells the story of all 36 songs in the words of John and Yoko, as well as those who worked alongside the duo, through unpublished interviews, accompanied by hundreds of unpublished photographs, film stills, letters, sheets with song lyrics, boxes of tapes, art and memorabilia from the Lennon-Ono archives.
