John Frusciante released today, the 23rd, Maya , his first solo album of new material in six years under his real name, and no longer under the stage name Trickfinger .
Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist's new project , his first since Trickfinger , is named after his late cat, Maya . "Maya was with me while I was making music for 15 years, so I wanted to name the album in her honor," he says.
“She loved music, and with such a personal title, it didn’t seem right to call me Trickfinger, somehow, so it’s by John Frusciante,” he reveals about the decision that sparked the curiosity of many fans.
