The Red Hot Chili Peppers are very close to releasing their new album, Unlimited Love , which arrives on digital platforms in the early hours of Friday, April 1st. The album is highly anticipated as it is John Frusciante 's return to the band .
As a form of promotion, vocalist Anthony Kiedis spoke with presenter Zane Lowe for Apple Music and discussed the two times Frusciante left the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Regarding the first instance, in 1992, Kiedis commented that everyone was "kind of childish" at the time and wanted things their own way. Then, in 2009, the guitarist reportedly made the decision to leave because he couldn't handle everything that was happening.
“Then came Californication, By The Way, and Stadium Arcadium , and he had to make a holistic decision. He said, ‘This isn’t for me. It’s too much. Too much attention, too much travel, too much chaos, too much of everything.’ And then he left,” Anthony recounts.
“I think he needed a whole 12 years to process all that, and he was willing to do it slowly,” he continues. “Like, who are these people? What do they mean to me? What have we done together? What kind of life do I want to live? Very intelligent. And I think he discovered that however difficult the situation may be, it’s life, and this is an opportunity to be in a band, and maybe he can find a better way to do it.”
