John Bush , vocalist for Armored Saint and former Anthrax , has announced a special series of solo shows featuring classics from his time with Anthrax. The setlist will include songs from the four studio albums he participated in: Sound of White Noise (1993), Stomp 442 (1995), Volume 8: The Threat is Real (1998), and We've Come For You All (2003).
In a new interview with Eonmusic , the vocalist discussed whether any of his Anthrax colleagues would participate in the shows: “My opinion about those guys is that the music is theirs. They are their songs; they composed them. They can do whatever they want. If they want to play one song, great. If they don't want to play any, great. You know, it doesn't matter. If they want to play ten songs, great. The door is open, and they can do whatever they want in conjunction with that, or nothing. As we get closer to the shows, we'll see how people are regarding the schedule.”
Scott Ian may participate in some of John Bush's solo shows.
John was asked if Scott Ian, guitarist for Anthrax, had given his blessing, since John and Scott had recently played together at Scott's wife's birthday party.
“Scott asked about being the third guitarist at one of the shows. He said, 'Would you like a third guitarist?', and I was dying of laughter, but I don't know how sincere he was about it. I think he was, but he has a scheduling conflict in Los Angeles, and that's where Scott lives. He has a wedding in New York, so I was saying, 'Well, maybe New York?', but I don't know if he'll be there that long, so who knows?”
John Bush also spoke about the energy of the solo shows: “I want them to feel celebratory. I have a few other people lined up to maybe show up and play some songs. I just want it to feel like a party, almost, a celebration of these songs and these albums. It’s not a competition with Anthrax. I want it to feel like a fun event.”
