Mick Mars, who was the guitarist for Mötley Crüe since the band's formation in 1981, announced that he will retire from performing due to his painful battle with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), an "extremely painful and debilitating degenerative disease that affects the spine," according to the musician.
In a statement, Mötley Crüe addressed the departure of their longtime friend and announced his replacement, speaking of Mick Mars with great respect and admiration for the time the guitarist battled Ankylosing Spondylitis "for decades" to continue performing on stage.
“Saying it’s time to stop is the ultimate act of courage,” they wrote. “Mick’s sound helped define Mötley Crüe from the moment he plugged in his guitar at our first rehearsal. The rest is history. We will continue to honor his musical legacy.”
“We will follow Mick’s wishes and proceed with the world tour in 2023 as planned. Undoubtedly, we would need an exceptional musician to fill Mick’s shoes, so we are very grateful that our friend, John 5, has agreed to join us. We’ll see you all on the road!”

Tickets for the performances have been available since 10 AM on the Eventim and will be released from 11 AM at the official box offices (no service fee), available for purchase directly at the stadiums where the performances take place in each state.
Purchases can be made in up to 5 interest-free installments with a credit card. All performances are rated for ages 16 and up, and minors aged 10 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
