Joey Tempest , lead singer of Europe , was one of the participants in the virtual birthday celebration honoring singer Ronnie James Dio , who would have turned 79 last Saturday, July 10th.

In a video for an online event organized by The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund , dedicated to cancer prevention, research, and education, Tempest presented a delicate acoustic version of "Heaven and Hell," a Black Sabbath , accompanied only by his guitar. "God bless you, Ronnie, and thank you for all the inspiration," the band posted on social media.

, other rock and metal artists delivered surprising covers of Dio's work as frontman of Black Sabbath, with Bruce Dickinson imitating the singer on the same song and Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge performing an acoustic version of "Mob Rules" .
