Former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison revealed in early June that he suffers from transverse myelitis , a disease that hampered his career with Slipknot . Now, in an interview with Loudwire, the drummer talks about his current state of health and why he kept his illness a secret for so long. Check out his statements:

“I’m stronger than I’ve ever been in my entire life, really. I’m not just saying that. I’ve never been this strong. There was a time when I was completely devastated and lost my way. All this weird shit that happened to me, and I turned it around. I was finished. For a long time. But I came back.”

Joey Jordison says he would like to reunite with Slipknot.

“One thing is, I didn’t want to be that person who says, ‘Oh, I’m sick, everyone feel sorry for me.’ I was stuck in something very traumatic and I was focused on getting well. I didn’t need to cry to the media to gain everyone’s sympathy and seem like, ‘Oh, I’m so hurt,’ and things like that. So I stayed quiet. And all I did was focus on myself and my life, and what I wanted from my career. You know, it’s a very, very bad disease. It leaves you crippled, which is what I was. And sometimes you don’t come back from it. I did.”
