Joey Jordison: "Slipknot's most epic shows were in Brazil"

Vimic will open for Megadeth's shows in Brazil.

Joey Jordison, former drummer and co-founder of Slipknot, has worked with big names in music such as Rob Zombie, Metallica, Marilyn Manson, and System Of A Down. Now, he has the opportunity to join Megadeth.

Vimic, his new band, will be coming to Brazil to open for Megadeth. On Tuesday, October 31st, they will be at Espaço das Américas in São Paulo, and the following day, November 1st, they will be performing at Vivo Rio in Rio de Janeiro.

After leaving Slipknot and forming Scar The Martyr, Joey Jordison decided to start a new project. Needing to make some lineup changes, Jordison sought musicians willing to embark on this new journey with him.

“Our vocalist is Kalen Chase, he was a backing vocalist for Korn and I met him when I toured with the band. We became best friends and started working on new material. We contacted several people sending demos. Kyle Konkiel played in In This Moment, he's one of the most incredible guys. Jed Simon is a legend from Strapping Young Lad. And now we have a new guitarist, Steve Marshall, who is great. And our keyboardist, Matt Tarach, is amazing. He's one of the best producers I've ever met. So the band is pretty killer.”

Excited to come to Brazil, Jordison says that the opportunity to return to the country accompanied by Megadeth is an incredible experience. “ They [Megadeth] are one of the greatest metal bands of all time and they're bringing us to Brazil. Every time I've visited the country with Slipknot we've played the most epic shows of my life. So I'm very anxious and excited to come back.”

Currently, Vimic is preparing to release their first album, Open Your Omen, in early 2018. But he reveals that they already have another complete album ready to be recorded. “ Now we’ll have a break of a few weeks, so we’re going to record some things already. We have a lot of things ready to release in the future.”

The drummer has been a music lover since childhood. With inspirations ranging from Keith Moon to Peter Criss and Gene Krupa, he reveals that he is always composing new music.

“Metal is your punching bag, so you grab your guitar, your drumsticks, and you work. You put your emotions into it and you show your work to the world. The best thing about it is seeing how people react to it, react to the music you created. When you see the audience excited there with you, it's the best gift you can receive. And that's exactly why we're so excited to go to Brazil.”

Vimic's new album, Open Your Omen , won't be released until next year, but they've already been releasing new material from the album, such as the track "Fail Me (My Temple)" which features a special appearance by Dave Mustaine, their new touring colleague. Listen here .
