Joey Jordison , former drummer of Slipknot , was left out of the In Memoriam at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Every year, the awards ceremony dedicates some time to honoring figures in the music industry who have died in recent years. In the 2022 edition, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins received a special tribute , and Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones was remembered, but Slipknot fans noticed the absence of Joey Jordison from the tribute.

Interestingly, the band's only Grammy win and most of their nominations occurred while Jordison was still in Slipknot, winning in the Best Metal Performance category with "Before I Forget" in 2006. The drummer also received seven other nominations with the group. Joey Jordison died in July 2021 at the age of 47 .

This is not the first time a rock or metal star has been left out of the tribute. Nick Menza , formerly of Megadeth , was ignored in 2017 , and Vinnie Paul , drummer for Pantera , who died in 2018, was forgotten at the following year's awards ceremony .

In 2021, the event organizers received harsh criticism for honoring Eddie Van Halen , the legendary guitarist of Van Halen, with only a photo in the In Memoriam after Wolfgang , the artist's son, declined the invitation to play "Eruption" at that year's Grammy Awards.
