Former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, who currently works with Vimic, spoke in an interview with the website AXS about his departure from the band. The reason for Jordison's departure has not been detailed to this day, but the musician revealed last year that he suffers from transverse myelitis, a degenerative neurological disease that affected his legs, and that the diagnosis came shortly before his departure.
Jordison said he realized something was wrong during his last tour with Slipknot, and that he went to the hospital immediately after the tour ended.
“I was visited by a member of Slipknot throughout my time in the hospital. When someone is in the hospital, whether it’s a family member or someone who has anything wrong with them, if you love the person you go to visit them. I wasn’t visited by anyone. And then I was fired from the band. I don’t know why. I didn’t understand what happened.”
There are many rumors out there saying what the reason is, but it's all absolutely false. I have all the documents and photos from that time like an encyclopedia. All the documents from the discovery of the illness, rehabilitation, medical exams, until I was able to play again. But you know, it's okay. Life takes you down strange paths.”
In an interview with Metal Hammer last June, Jordison revealed that he was fired from Slipknot via email .
