The news of Joey Jordison last Tuesday, the 28th, caught everyone by surprise, especially as it came just days after the loss of another great musician, Mike Howe . These two tragedies were followed by a third, the death of Dusty Hill , confirmed this Wednesday, the 28th.
Many rock musicians deeply mourned the passing of Jordison, who was only 46 years old. His Slipknot staged a "blackout" on their social media accounts to symbolize their grief for their friend. Among the artists who offered their condolences through social media were Ozzy Osbourne, Mike Portnoy, Scott Ian , and Serj Tankian . Check out the list:

Rest In Peace Joey Jordison. You changed the game with Slipknot. Bring the blast beat to the mainstream! Give kids a groove like no other. Perseverance would've never happened had it not been for Joey & the Slipknot camp. Condolences to his family, friends & fans. Gone too soon

I don't have words, to call him an inspiration would be an understatement. Countless hours studying every move behind the kit. I owe so much to Joey Jordison and could never imagine being where I am today without his influence. RIP pic.twitter.com/BAnLHW9Re2

Very sorry to hear of the passing of #joeyjordison . NIN shared the stage with Slipknot on festival shows back in '05. Many nights I'd look over and see him and Sam from Interpol giving me the thumbs up — or flipping me off. Just a great guy. Godspeed, Joey. Rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/abUz5rbUcm

The brightest stars burn out the quickest. Gutted to see the passing of Joey Jordison, and the entire metal community is feeling this devastating blow. It's amazing how one influential person can make every musician step up their game. Please say hi to Paul for me Joey 💔

A game changing drummer/musician: Watching #joeyjordison was like seeing a machine with human quality. Only met him a few times, but super down to Earth/humble. A huge loss. #ripjoeyjordinson pic.twitter.com/JcT3QDJ8dE

Vol 3. Subliminal Verses was the record that carried me into truly heavy music. Joey Jordison was an absolute visionary and a heavy metal icon. RIP.

Sad to hear the passing of Joey Jordison. His drumming in @slipknot inspired me as a teenager, as it did to many other drummers my age. I'd spend a lot of time jamming that first album in the school music room. RIP.

Joey Jordison was better upside down than any other metal drummer sitting normally.
