Every year, João Rock provides a platform to promote original work by independent groups and artists. Registration for the selection of the band that will open the 20th anniversary edition of the event begins this Wednesday, the 12th, and continues until April 25th on the festival's official website.
After registration, participants will go through a popular vote, also conducted by joaorock.com.br , from April 26th to May 9th. The 20 bands with the most votes will be analyzed by the event's technical jury, and on May 11th, the four semifinalists of the Contest will be announced.
“This year, the semifinalist artists will have an immersive experience in the world of music and João Rock, with lectures on musical entrepreneurship, rehearsals in a high-tech studio, and will perform live in the semifinals at GOA Lounge in Ribeirão Preto on May 18th and 19th,” comments Marcelo Rocci, one of the festival organizers.
The two finalists will be chosen by the JR judging committee and will perform in the final, an event open to the public, scheduled for May 20th. At that time, the participants will be evaluated by a new jury who will announce the final result.
Winning band opens the João Rock festival program.
The winner will open the musical program of the 20th edition of the event by playing on the João Rock Stage, the same stage where L7nnon and Filipe Ret + guests, Emicida + guests, Capital Inicial, BaianaSystem, Pitty, CPM 22, Gilsons, Ira! and Planet Hemp will perform.
For the third year, the Band Competition will be held through ProAC ICMS, a tax incentive program in the state of São Paulo for cultural projects, and will be sponsored by Açúcar Guarani.
