The 'Brutal Brega' project reinterprets the classic "Coroné Antonio Bento"

Ratos de Porão 's vocalist and punk icon, João Gordo , has released a version of the song "Coroné Antonio Bento." The song, originally composed by João do Vale and Luiz Wanderley , became famous in the voice of Tim Maia , and now has been transformed into a punk version.

This version also includes a music video directed by Raul Machado, the same director of the videos for the first album. You can watch the video at the end of this article.

This release is the first sample of the continuation of Brutal Brega , a project that began during the pandemic in partnership with producer Val Santos ( Toyshop , VIPER ). The project's first album, released in 2022 , is a fun tribute to "brega" music, with versions of classics by artists such as Sidney Magal and Reginaldo Rossi.

Now, João and Val are preparing a second album, this time a tribute to MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). Scheduled for release in the second half of the year, the album will include versions of songs by artists such as Caetano Veloso, Belchior, Luiz Gonzaga, and many others.

Brutal Brega 's first album is available on all platforms, and on CD via Wikimetal Store .
