Joan Jett & The Blackhearts sing about new beginnings on the soundtrack of a new documentary.
Joan Jett , along with the band The Blackhearts , returned after five years without releasing new music to launch "Fresh Start," a single that will be part of the soundtrack for the documentary Bad Reputation , which premieres on September 28th, with no release date yet for Brazil.
In the song, Jett sings about "getting back on top, rewinding the tape and resetting the clock," and according to an interview with Entertainment Weekly , the track was the result of the singer's reflection. "Sometimes you need to ask yourself, 'Do I still enjoy what I'm doing? Do I need to find that fire again?'"
I think about rock in general. It's always been a game for young people who write about sex, love, and partying. But when you get older, what are you going to write about? I don't know if there's an answer to that, but I'm looking for it.”
Bad Reputation was directed by Kevin Kerslake and will tell the story of the singer's career through images and exclusive interviews with Debbie Harry , Billie Joe Armstrong , Iggy Pop , and Pete Townshend .
