Ukrainian band Jinjer cancels tour dates in the United States

The members currently reside in Kyiv and want to focus on the safety of their families

The Ukrainian metal band Jinjer has cancelled its scheduled shows in the United States for March and April, including its participation in the Knotfest Roadshow. The group stated that it wants to focus on the “safety of its families and its country”.

The official statement was released by The Factory venue in Chesterfield, where Jinjer was scheduled to perform on March 13th. “It is with great sadness that Jinjer has been forced to cancel their scheduled US tour dates,” they wrote. “As the band and their families live in Kyiv, their focus is on the safety of their families and their country. We all hope for a swift and peaceful resolution.”

The Factory also guaranteed that refunds would be issued within 30 days of cancellation and that the venue would donate five thousand dollars to the United Hathzalah to ensure that “those trapped in the war zone and refugees leaving Ukraine will be treated by a team of professional and caring volunteers who are well-equipped with medical equipment and prepared for any eventuality.”

A week before the attacks on Kyiv, Jinjer released a statement saying that all members were safe and calling for an end to the war. In an interview with BBC News , bassist Eugene Abdukhanov revealed that he had quit his day job to establish a charity to help "military and civilians" and that he would soon be running a shelter providing "food supplies, water and protection" for those affected by the conflict.
