Jinjer , a leading Ukrainian metal band, has announced their fifth studio album, Duél , which will be released on February 7, 2025, by Napalm Records . The single "Kafka" was released alongside the announcement of the band's new work.

The track showcases various facets of Jinjer's sound, opening with guitar arpeggios alongside a complex drum arrangement. The song maintains this feel until about halfway through, at which point the band adds more weight to the track with Tatiana Shmayluk , the group's vocalist, shifting from melodic to guttural vocals.

Shmayluk commented on the single “Kafka” ( via Consequence ): “Being an artist is sometimes beautiful, but most of the time it’s brutal… because our art is dissected word by word and torn apart note by note. We’re expected to be on point all the time and when we’re not, we get outraged.”

“A true artist is vulnerable, but the public is often tormented by vultures that attack their every move. It’s a slippery slope when music means the world to us, but how quickly praise turns to accusation… We are all kings and queens for a day, yet most of the time it feels like a Franz Kafka for a lifetime. It’s exciting, but surreal and absurd at the same time.”

Duél is the first studio album since Wallflowers (2021) . The new record will feature 11 tracks and will include the other singles “Someone's Daughter” and “Rogue”.

In late November and early December, Jinjer will be performing in Brazil in Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo, Heaven Shall Burn as the opening act .
