Jimmy Page made a surprise appearance last Friday, the 3rd, during the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. The guitarist paid tribute to Link Wray after eight years without performing live.
During the performance, the Led Zeppelin performed Wray's "Rumble," who was also honored with the Music Influence award. Additionally, prior to the performance, a video was shown of Jimmy Page reminiscing about the first time he heard the song ( via Blabbermouth ):
“What is this? Back then, there were a lot of guitar instrumentals, but being a 14-year-old kid who could barely play guitar, this really had an effect on me. The vigor, the strength, and the power in it. And you know what else – it was fearless. It was simply phenomenal. The essence of cool.”
Some of the names inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023 were Rage Against the Machine , Kate Bush , George Michael , Sheryl Crow , Missy Elliott , Willie Nelson , and The Spinners .
