Jimmy Page reveals that Led Zeppelin was ready to go on tour after their 2007 reunion

"There hasn't been any discussion about any tour since then – nor will there be," the guitarist emphasizes

The desire to see Led Zeppelin reunited on a world tour may never come true, but Jimmy Page reveals that the band's 2007 reunion in honor of the late Ahmet Ertegun, president of Atlantic Records , almost took the artists back on the road.

In an interview with Classic Rock , the guitarist recounts the episode and the participation of Jason Bonham, son of the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham, “We had a lot of fun in those rehearsals because it was mostly just the three of us [Jimmy, Jason Bonham and John Paul Jones ], so Jason really felt part of the band, instead of just being there because he’s John’s son. He was there because he was a very good drummer and it was right that he should be sitting in that place. But he needed to know that.”

Regarding the possible tour, he says, “They said there would be a tour. There were no dates set, but obviously we improved to the point where we were ready. But then there hasn’t been any discussion about any tour since then – nor will there be. So there you have it. It’s just one of those strange things in the world of Led Zeppelin, really, another part of the Led Zeppelin phenomenon.”
