The legendary Led Zeppelin musician was self-taught
Jimmy Page , the musical genius of Led Zeppelin , explained how he learned to play guitar in an interview with the American Academy of Achievement. He claims he was self-taught.
“I didn’t take lessons. I learned from a book called Play in a Day. Many years later, I became a studio musician, and I wrote my scores exactly the way I had learned from the book. It was very helpful to me ,” he said.
The legendary guitarist also recalled the beginning of his career, when he chose not to go to college. “When I finished school, I threw myself into music. I played with a band from London, while living in Epsom, which is a bit far away. So we had to wait for me to finish my exams before we could tour England.”
