Musician passed away at age 68
Last In Line posted a statement on social media written by Vinny Appice revealing the cause of death of Jimmy Bain, the band's bassist who passed away on the 23rd. Check out the statement:
“Jimmy Bain – friend, brother, and bandmate – passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016.
The medical examiner’s report states that the official cause of death was lung cancer.
Jimmy didn’t know he had lung cancer, but he knew he had pneumonia and was receiving treatment for it.
This didn’t stop him or slow him down; we did four four-hour rehearsals a day, and then a flight to Miami for the Def Leppard Rock Cruise. A pre-show and soundcheck were scheduled for the next day. At the show, Jimmy played incredibly well and even sang with his bass on his back, without complaining once or asking for help.
The next day we embarked on a 5-day trip where we were scheduled to play on the fourth day.
The show never happened because Jimmy passed away in his cabin the night before; we were devastated.
Jimmy was a soldier; he gave his all to the band he loved, the music he loved, and the fans. He didn’t want to let anyone down. I don’t know anyone who would have attempted that schedule while sick and not feeling well.” Soldier.
He was very happy and proud of the album we recorded, and it was very sad that he didn't live to see its release.
We look forward to getting back on the road and playing together again; there was so much magic between all of us.
Our prayers go out to the families, friends, and fans who will miss this wonderful person that was Jimmy Bain.
Vinny.”
