Former Ronnie James Dio and Rainbow bassist Jimmy Bain has died at age 68, according to several sources including former Dio drummer Simon Wright. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Since 2013, Bain had been in the band Last In Line with former Dio bandmates Vivian Campbell and Vinny Appice, and performed in Miami last week.

Before playing on 7 albums in Dio's solo career, from his debut album "Holy Diver" (1983) to "Killing The Dragon" (2002), Jimmy Bain played on Rainbow's second album, "Rising" (1976), and with Thin Lizzy.

Bain is the co-author of historic songs such as Stand Up And Shout , Rainbow In The Dark , The Last In Line , Mystery , Egypt (The Chains Are On) , King Of Rock And Roll , Sacred Heart , Hungry For Heaven , among many others.
