The U.S. Post Office building is located on the street where the musician grew up

Jimi Hendrix will be honored in his hometown of Renton, Washington, in the United States.

The U.S. Congress approved Representative Adam Smith's proposal to name a public post office building the James Marshall Jimi Hendrix Post Office Building . The building is located on Northeast 4th Street, the same street where Hendrix grew up and near Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery, where he is buried.

“The Puget Sound region is home to a museum about Hendrix’s life and work, a park dedicated to his memory, and several memorials visited by thousands of fans every year. This designation will further honor this music icon and his roots in Seattle,” the representative said.
